In his own words:
My name is Gellért Gombai, and I am a freelance photographer based in Budapest. I graduated in 2012 from the Photography Department of Szellemkép School. My photographic work encompasses a wide range of perspectives, and I generally shoot themes that arise from my own life experiences. As a social worker, I photograph the everyday lives of homeless people; as a father, I capture moments from my children’s lives; on vacations, I document the bustling activity of beaches; and during my nighttime wanderings, I explore the mysteries of dark roads. Regardless of the subject, I strive to present not only the concrete but also the abstract, not just reality but also an underlying meaning. I try to infuse every image with my own personality and story. Photography, for me, is both a form of play and therapy. My work is regularly exhibited at prestigious venues in Hungary.
I am also a member of the ISO100 Collective, a group of outstanding Hungarian photographers.
