Xbox is giving achievement art an upgrade on Series X consoles

Not content with the recent visual achievement refresh and the new feature that allows you to hide games from your achievement list, Microsoft is now giving Xbox achievement art a bit of an overhaul, along with gamerpics.

In a new update for Xbox Insiders in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings, Microsoft says it has “increased the sharpness of gamerpics and certain game or achievement art on Xbox Series X consoles set to 4K output.” While it is only a minor change, it’s nevertheless a welcome one. It’s great to see Microsoft continuing to roll out small quality-of-life updates like this, especially when it comes to Xbox achievements, which is something Microsoft had neglected for years until last month.

At the start of April, Microsoft announced it was giving Xbox achievements an overhaul, pleasing many. It also revealed that completed games will now be highlighted in your achievement list, and that you will also be able to hide games in which you have unlocked achievements from your profile.

At the time, Microsoft said these changes were a “small but meaningful step in a broader set of improvements we’re making to achievements” and that it was also “continuing to explore new ways to recognize completion and milestone moments over time,” so more improvements (and what sounds like a platinum trophy equivalent) are on the way.
